When we shift from giving advice to asking questions, we empower our tweens and teens to think for themselves. Instead of saying, “You should do it this way,” try asking, “What do you think would work best?”

This small change helps them develop autonomy, boosts confidence, and sharpens their problem-solving skills. It’s not about abandoning guidance—it’s about showing them we trust their ability to figure things out. 💡

Let’s encourage our kids to take ownership of their choices and learn to navigate challenges on their own terms. ❤️

Feel the difference?

We often dismiss our tweens or teens when they say something frustrating, not because we don’t care, but because we’re trying to fix it or move past the discomfort. But what they really need from us is to validate their feelings. That’s it.

When we validate, we’re saying: "I see you. I hear you." And that simple shift can completely change how they feel about themselves—and their relationship with us.

Validation isn’t about solving their problems. It’s about creating space for them to feel seen and supported. When they feel heard, they’re more likely to open up, reflect, and build their own problem-solving skills.

We often dismiss our tweens or teens when they say something frustrating, not because we don't care, but because we're trying to fix it or move past the discomfort. But what they really need from us is to validate their feelings. That's it.
