This is such a helpful tool to use with your tweens and teens!

If there’s one emotion that can throw us for a loop as moms, it’s anger—especially with our tweens and teens.

Maybe your tween lashes out over something small, or they get disrespectful and say hurtful things. Maybe they shut down completely and refuse to talk.

However it looks, anger is not an easy emotion to navigate—for them and for us.
But here’s something I wish I had understood sooner: anger is not the enemy.

Many of us grew up thinking anger was a “bad” emotion—something to be avoided, shut down, or controlled. But anger is actually a signal. It’s a powerful emotion that alerts us when something deeper is going on.

A great question that I’ve learned to ask myself about one of my kids is: What’s beneath the anger?

Often, what looks like disrespect is actually anxiety, frustration, hurt or sadness. Your tween or teen might be struggling with:

• Anxiety about school or friendships
• Feeling left out or rejected
• Overwhelm from responsibilities
• A need for space or independence
• Unspoken hurt or disappointment

That’s why I love using The Anger Iceberg—it’s a powerful tool that you can use with your kids to help identify what’s underneath their anger. Moms have shown their kids and even hung it up on the wall to help teach self-awareness.

🌟 Parenting Wins Matter! 🌟

As moms, we can be so hard on ourselves. We can tend to focus on the challenges or what we need to fix with our kids that we forget to celebrate the wins—no matter how small they may seem. Whether it’s staying calm when you could have lost it, not offering advice and instead listening, or just having a peaceful moment together, these wins are worth acknowledging!

We all want our kids to be successful—it’s so

We all want our kids to be successful—it’s so exciting when they achieve something, and it can make us feel so proud! But here’s the thing: that feeling of success can sometimes lead us into a trap. If we’re not careful, we might unintentionally send the message that our love is based on what they do, rather than who they are.

It's important to remember to celebrate their wins, but more importantly, let’s dig deep and affirm them for WHO they are—their kindness, sense of humor, insightfulness, determination, kindness, care of others, and the list goes on! These qualities are just as important, I would argue even more, than any achievement. ❤️

We never want our love to feel conditional so let’s remember to let them know it’s their heart and character we love most.

One of our mom’s personal storie that so many of us can relate to.

She felt like she was losing her daughter and breaking her spirit.

But then she started to make small changes in the way she was reacting. She let go of control and focused on building the relationship instead. It wasn’t easy, but over time, that simple change made a huge difference.

Fact: When you have a teen, you’re going to repeat yourself—A LOT.

Yes, it’s frustrating. Yes, it feels like they have selective hearing. But the truth is, they’re not ignoring us just to drive us crazy (even if it feels that way). They’re learning, growing, and developing new habits—and that takes time.

So, the next time you find yourself repeating the same thing for the 100th time, take a deep breath and remind yourself: patience is part of the process. One day, it’ll stick (we hope). 😉
